Austin – The Sam Rayburn ISD in Fannin County is among the four percent of Texas schools to receive a top rating in a new report comparing student performance to district spending.

Other area schools to receive the five-star honor include Anna, Canton, Garland and McKinney.

The Comptroller's Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST), released Wednesday, assigns a rating of from one to five to show a district's success in combining cost-effective spending with the achievement of measurable student academic progress. Five stars reflect the strongest relative progress combined with the lowest relative spending.

More information on the study is available at http://www.fastexas.org/.
