– While an economic recovery will remain slow to modest over the next several months for the state, things are looking up, says Dr. Ray Perryman of the Perryman Group.

He was recently in Sulphur Springs to present the economic outlook of Northeast Texas. Perryman says the mood of Texans is pretty good.

"We have done better than some other states and I think that message is now getting across to people," Perryman said. "We've had a few strong months of pretty strong job growth and a number of other things that have bode very well for Texas."

He notes the major concerns of Texans are the projected state budget shortfall and healthcare reform, among others; but says it's encouraging to see everyone willing to learn about the issues. Perryman also says decisions to extend bush era tax cuts and unemployment benefits are rights ones.
