L-3 property ruled tax exempt

Greenville – Hunt County Chief Appraiser Brent South has ruled the property on which Greenville's L-3 Communications plant rests will remain exempt from property taxes.

South's ruling falls in line with the interpretation offered early last week by Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott.

The company leases land at Majors Field Municipal Airport from the City.

The debate over whether L-3 was to pay property taxes started about a year ago, after the Hunt County Appraisal District began a review of properties across the county which had been listed as tax exempt. The review was to make sure all exemptions were being granted according to state law.
