Prison sentence ordered in assault, burglary

Sulphur Springs – A five year prison sentence is handed down in a Sulphur Springs' domestic disturbance case.

24 year old Jerry Franklin Hamilton Jr. pleaded guilty to choking a woman during a domestic disturbance. Under a new law, choking a family member was upgraded from a misdemeanor to a 3rd degree felony.

Hamilton also received 10 years for burglary of a habitation. The sentences will be served concurrently.
