Storm spotter class to visit Delta County

By Scott Harvey

Cooper – The annual SKYWARN storm spotter training class makes a final stop in Delta County Wednesday to inform area residents how to accurately identify and describe severe storms.

The free seminar has been visiting area counties over the past couple of months in preparation of the severe weather season. Wednesday's meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Delta County Community Center in Cooper.

Residents are instructed how to report severe weather activity to the National Weather Service so they can in turn send out timely and accurate warnings to citizens in the path of a storm.

The volunteer program consists of approximately 290,000 trained severe weather spotters nationwide.
