Charges dropped following insanity ruling

Greenville – A Greenville man, shot more than two years ago after allegedly pulling a gun on a sheriff's deputy, is declared legally insane and acquitted on the charge.
Judge Steve Tittle issued the ruling Wednesday and ordered Charles Boyd Rose Jr. be committed to a state mental health facility.
Rose had been scheduled to go to trial Monday, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, stemming from the 2009 incident.
Rose had previously been committed to a mental health facility, before being returned to local custody prior to Wednesday's hearing.
