– Delta County residents are among the millions nationwide asked to come together Thursday as part of the National Day of Prayer.

The event will take place at noon on the Delta County Courthouse steps. Everyone is encouraged to gather and honor the freedom of religion.

The Hunt County Courthouse will also play host to the Day of Prayer, beginning at noon, with this year's theme titled "One people, One Accord."

President Barak Obama recently proclaimed May 5, 2011 as a National Day of Prayer. It is typically held on the first Thursday of May. The event was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
