Theft charge issued connecting local murder

By Scott Harvey

Hopkins County – Another person is named in connection to this week's murder of a Hopkins County resident.

40-year-old Sarilu Mettlen, of Pennsylvania, is charged with theft after confessing to pawning some of the items stolen from Bobby Riley's home.

The 62-year-old Riley was reportedly strangled by 43-year-old Brian Allen Tucker, of Mesquite. Tucker is believed have committed the crime while attempting to steal items from Riley's home in the Mahoney community.

The items were recovered at a pawn shop in Texarkana. Investigators are trying to determine if Mettlen is linked to the murder.
