Winnsboro – Another meeting aimed at informing residents about the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline is planned for East Texans tonight by opponents of the project.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Winnsboro Depot.
The meeting will allow for public comment on the controversial project, which will pump tar sands oil from Canada to the gulf coast and cross several Northeast Texas counties, including Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, and Wood, as well as cross 32 bodies of water in the state.
Citizens have until June 6 to comment on an environmental impact statement issued by the State Department on the project. The government is expected to issue their decision on allowing or prohibiting the pipeline by the end of the year.
