By Cindy Roller

Cooper – The Cooper ISD Board intends to appoint Denicia Hohenberger as Interim Superintendent.

The decision will not be final until current Superintendent Jason Marshall submits his resignation, after he was recently named the sole finalist for the top job at Palestine ISD. He is not scheduled to be hired there until next Thursday night.

Hohenberger is currently serving the district as assistant superintendent and has been for the past four years. She began her career as a special education teacher for Cooper Junior High. Since then she has been a counselor, assistant principal and curriculum director.

She said she was excited to begin the new school year with the opportunity to transition from assistant to interim superintendent. She spent much of her childhood in Delta County, fifteen of her seventeen years in education have been with Cooper schools.

Hohenberger says she is looking forward to the opportunity and to working with the staff to make continued improvement with a focus on the success of every student.
