– The Texas jobless rate rose to 8.2 percent in June from 8 percent in May, including a major increase in unemployment locally.

Last week's report by the Texas Workforce Commission shows Hunt County's rate jumped more than one percent over the month, to 9.9.

Hopkins County remained the lowest in the region, at 7.8 percent, while Fannin and Lamar counties both posted figures above the ten percent mark.

Elsewhere throughout the region, Rockwall and Collin counties posted 7.9 and 8 percent unemployment rates for June, respectively. Rains County was listed at 9.6 percent and Van Zandt County 8.2 percent.
