Hilton Denies It Overcharged DOJ For Muffins

STEVE INSKEEP: Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

Hilton Worldwide is denying accusations that it overcharged taxpayers for muffins. The company hosted a legal training conference for the Justice Department. News reports cited the department's inspector general saying Hilton billed the government $16 a piece for muffins. Now the company says its receipts were misinterpreted. Hilton says for $16 people also received fresh fruit, coffee, tea, soft drinks, tax and tips. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
