PARIS - A local man has been indicted for arson in connection to a series of grass fires in Lamar and Red River counties.
The Lamar County Grand Jury handed down the charge on Friday against Nolan Kevin Mitchell. The 61-year-old Mitchell was allegedly spotted close to one of the fires just after it had started in early September.
The offense came as the region was and continues to battle extreme drought conditions. All of Northeast Texas remains under a burn ban.
