Update: Student released from care after crosswalk accident

COMMERCE - A Texas A&M University-Commerce student is recovering after a vehicle-pedestrian accident Friday evening along a Commerce crosswalk.

Witnesses tell KETR that an individual was running across Culver St. (Loop 178) in front of Whitley Hall when he was struck by a newer model gray Toyota Prius.

Commerce emergency personnel had cleared the scene by 6:05 p.m.

The victim was transported by ground to Hunt Regional Community Hospital in Commerce. A hospital official confirmed that Yean Soo Kim was released from care at approximately 7:15 p.m. The extent of his injuries was not given.

The driver’s side mirror was broken as a result of the accident. The rest of the vehicle did not appear to be impacted.
