Holloway heading back to prison

AUSTIN - A lower court ruling has been upheld in the case of Danny Holloway, the Paris man convicted in the 2001 stabbing death of a woman.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has affirmed the guilty verdict, even after new DNA evidence showed the knife prosecutors said was the murder weapon, wasn’t. The Court ruled that trial evidence without the knife was enough to convict Holloway in the death of Ashley Lee, which is said to have occurred during a brawl outside a Paris night club.

Holloway has served eight years of his 20 year sentence.

A Paris judge ordered a new trial last year and freed Holloway on bail. He moved in with relatives in Richardson and had been working odd jobs in North Texas while awaiting the Austin court’s ruling.
