Alice Reese: Ruby Sparks Lights up the Screen

Our local movie critic Alice Reese ranks the third installment of Diary of Wimpy Kid: Dog Days as the least enjoyable in the trilogy. In its place, she recommends Ruby Sparks.

From the director of Little Miss Sunshine, nominated for four Academy Awards included Best Picture, Ruby Sparks is the story of a novelists' fictional character who comes to life. Mannequin fans, anyone?

Also this weekend is Killer Joe. And despite its very dark humor and NC-17 rating, Alice calls it "one of the best movies I've seen in quite a long time. But as I said, shocking and so over-the-top and outrageous that some people will be very offended."
