Cooper Man Shot, Killed; Suspect In Custody

Damien Damon Wiley, 35, of Cooper, died after being shot Sunday morning in Cooper, the Delta County Sheriff’s Department said.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting at the Cooper Mart in the 800 block of West Dallas Street, officials said. Sheriff’s deputies found Wiley dead at the scene, they said. Officers also found Saquan Harrion-Reynolds, 21, injured from a gunshot. Harrion-Reynolds was airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital, where he was in stable condition Sunday, officials said.

Deputies arrested Robert Clevon Jeffery, 47, at the scene. Jeffery has been charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Delta County Jail on a $1.5 million bond.

The Texas Rangers, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Commerce Police Department, Texas A&M University-Commerce Police, Texas Game Warden, Texas Parks and Wildlife Officer and Delta County Emergency Management also assisted with the incident, officials said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Delta County Sheriff’s Office at (903) 395-2146.
