City Of Point Cancels Council Meeting, Boil Water Notice Remains

In Rains County, a scheduled special meeting of the City of Point city council has been cancelled. A post made on the city's Facebook page Tuesday afternoon and an alert on the city's website announced the cancellation. The city cited lack of quorum as the reason for the cancellation.

No agenda for the meeting was posted on the city's website or Facebook page.

The City of Point has been under a boil water notice since Aug. 23. A previous boil water notice lasted from July 26 until Aug. 20.

Point mayor Johnny Northcutt resigned on Aug. 17, according to the city's Facebook page. Northcutt is still listed as mayor on the city's website. The city’s website lists Stephen Cross as mayor pro tem, with other council members as Jerry Cason, Judy Luckett, Alan Messick, and Robby Richardson. There are no city council agendas or minutes available on the city’s website.
