Alice found the 'Minions' too adorable to resist

Illumination Entertainment

This week on Movie Picks with Alice Reese, Alice reviews Minions, Nowitzki: The Perfect Shot, and Manglehorn.

Minions is a prequel to the Despicable Me franchise, following three minions named Kevin, Stuart and Bob. The movie stars Sandra Bullock as Scarlett Overkill, the minions' new master, the film's director, Pierre Coffin, as the gibberish-spouting minions, and several other major names filling out the rest of the cast. Alice found it easy to follow and adorable. She recommends the movie for both children and adults.

Nowitzki: The Perfect Shot is a German documentary that follows Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitski, his relationship with his coach and mentor, and their journey to NBA glory. Alice was impressed with the movie, and not just because Dirk himself was at the same screening. She says it shows the edgier parts of his life along with his good-guy image.

Manglehorn is a film from Richardson High alum David Gordon Green. It stars Al Pacino, Holly Hunter, and Chris Messina. It follows the life of a Texas locksmith who can't forget the one that got away. Green is also responsible for Pineapple Express (2008), Prince Avalanche (2013), and Joe (2013).
