Harlon Hill trophy winner #12 Luis Perez threw had 23 completions for 323 yards and two touchdowns. During the first quarter, he broke a Division II record for most passing yards in a single post season. He finished the season with 4,999 passing yards.

The A&M-Commerce Lions football team did what 168 teams couldn’t do, winning the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championship, its first in school history. The Lions finished its record-breaking season 14-1, second national championship in school history, after defeating West Florida 37-27 in Kansas City, Kan.
