Archaeological find made in Delta County

The Delta County Sheriff's Department announced on Tuesday the discovery of human remains on County Road 4725.

The archeological find was made by arrowhead hunters Royce Reed and Mike Turner.

“There is really no telling as of right now,” stated Delta County Sheriff Gerald Teague. “We have called in the Texas Rangers for the investigation. It is estimated to possibly be an old Indian Burial Ground.”

The remains are believed to be human given the partial jaw bone description discovered upon initial examination. Sheriff Teague said they have currently restricted the area in which the bones were found.
