Cancer treatment center remains for a Hunt Memorial Hospital District expansion bond

By Kevin Jefferies

Greenville – Hunt County Memorial Hospital district officials are keeping the Cancer Center intact in an adjusted 24-million-dollar bond package set to go before voters in May. The bond package previously included a wellness center that has since been removed. If approved by voters, the Cancer Center would provide both chemotherapy and radiation treatments five days a week. Other components of the bond package include new beds in Intensive Care and heart-monitoring areas. Hospital District officials are still emphasizing the bond package would not require an increase to current tax rates, as the new bond will replace other debts that are being paid off.
