Chamber to remain afloat thanks to major contribution

BONHAM - The Bonham Chamber of Commerce receives some much needed funding to maintain operations this fiscal year.

In a 4-2 vote Tuesday, The Bonham Economic Development Corporation pledged to provide the Chamber with $45,000.

Milton Glenn is chairman of the Chamber. He tells KXII-TV that mismanagement of funds by previous board members landed them thousands of dollars in debt. Bonham City Manager and Interim Executive Director of BEDCo Corby Alexander called the agreement the difference between life and death for the Chamber.

In exchange for the funding, the Chamber has agreed to provide promotional activities for the economic development corporation.

Despite the $45,000 commitment to the Chamber, they’ll still need to increase membership fees to stay operational over the next few years.
