Chasing Chiggers out of Delta County

A nice crowd helped chase the chiggers out of Delta County for the  21st Annual Chiggerfest this past Saturday. The day-long event began with the Chigger mascot and Chigger "in training" being chased out of town for the start of the 5K/2 mile run.

Other events throughout the day included the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, Health Fair, a performance by the Cooper High School Mighty Maroon Marching Band, LiSher Dancers, Arts & Crafts Show, Pet Parade, Chigger Pageant, live musical entertainment, vendors and - of course - food including treats like chocolate covered cheesecake, funnel cakes and corn dogs plus much more.

The event was sponsored by the Delta County Chamber of Commerce. For more information contact Gracie Young at 903.395.4314. The next Chamber event will be held on Friday, Oct. 31 for a Halloween Trunk 'o Treat on the Square in Cooper. There will be a $50 prize for the BEST TRUNK.

The Chamber meets the first Monday evening of the month at the Board room on the West Side of the Square  and welcomes new members.
