Christmas Traditions: Ridgecrest Live Nativity

en.wikipedia.org

One of  Greenville's longest running Christmas traditions continues this month. The live nativity at Ridgecrest Baptist Church is always scheduled to be performed December 2oth through the 24th during the 5 evenings before Christmas.

The live nativity program is celebrating its 46th year and will take place at its annual location on the south side of the church building at 6801 Wesley Street from 7 until 9 pm each night.

The nativity began in 1965 which was also the year the church itself was organized. At that time the church met in the former Travis Elementary School building at Wesley and O’ Neal Streets.

The nativity has been presented each year since with the exception of 1973 when the energy crisis resulted of a federally mandated reduction of electricity.
