CHS to host Stew Cook-off

Keith Cook, Cooper High School principal, just announced the upcoming Annual Stew Cook-off for this Friday, Oct. 23 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Several people will be setting up their canopy tents in the grassy area next to the parking lot [next to Bulldog Stadium].  We will be selling special cups that people can purchase for $5 and take that cup and go from place to place to sample the different stews,” said Principal Keith Cook. “Basically, it’s only $5 for all-you-can-eat.” If it rains this Friday, then the stew competition will be moved to the Ag Shop (just across from the field house).

Winners will be decided during the game and will be presented a trophy.

“If you have a favorite stew recipe and you want to participate in the cook-off please let me know,” said Principal Cook. He reminds participants it is their responsibility to provide a “warming system” and no burning wood fires on school grounds.

The award winning Cooper High School Mighty Maroon Marching Band will be providing entertainment and there will be face-painting and games, as well.

He reports all the money made from this effort will be split into the Junior High and High School student activity accounts.
