CISD Board Of Trustees Honored For Appreciation Month

The Cooper Independent School District Board of Trustees were honored at the January regular meeting for School Board Appreciation Month with gift baskets filled with homemade goodies along with a Cowboys-themed banner depicting each Board member.

“We are so thankful and grateful. You always put the needs of our students first with your great vision,” said Cooper ISD Superintendent Denicia Hohenberger. “We appreciate how you help steer our kids.”
The board members were pleased with the gifts and expressions.

“You are, what makes doing our job, easy. We are proud to be able to represent Cooper ISD,” replied School Board President Thomas Darden.

The students also created a “thank you” video for the Board of Trustees.

Director of School Operations Doug Wicks reported on facility updates with the stage lights installation, the baseball field light installation and air condition installation on school buses. The Trustees unanimously approved the budgeted purchase of a new International 71 passenger with air conditioning and heat.

The Board passed the resolution 6-0 joining hundreds of other Districts across the State of Texas regarding the A-F Ratings System.

A public hearing was held regarding the District of Innovation process.

“We are just so excited. We are looking forward to great, successful things we know our staff will be capable of doing. We are excited to take this journey and do great things for our students,” added Hohenberger.

She said they have been doing several school visits to learn what is successful and what can be implemented at Cooper ISD. The Trustees gave the 6-0 vote on this process.

The May 6, 2017 election was approved with two positions open. The two incumbent applications of Thomas Darden and Blake Randle for the two full term spots (3 years) have been returned.
