City of Greenville loses worthy citizen

GREENVILLE - Bill Thomas, who served as a state representative from 1989-1993, was a noted author and decorated serviceman. 

He died December 15 in Louisville, Kentucky. Services were held Monday.

Thomas, along with his wife and fellow worthy citizen Mitzy, lived in Greenville for 30 years.  The couple was named the 1998 Worthy Citizens of the Year by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

Among Thomas’ accomplishments include executive director of the Greenville Board of Development, a member of the GEUS Board of Trustees and served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club. Thomas was also president of the Noon Rotary Club and president of the Audio Murphy American Cotton Museum.
