COMMERCE - The City of Commerce will consider the sale of $3 million in bonds for street improvements when they meet Tuesday.
The bonds were approved by voters in May 2008. City officials delayed selling the bonds in order to conduct a street index and drainage study. Both projects are now complete, and the city council recently hired an engineering and architecture firm to being work on a proposed three year street improvement project.
Work is expected to begin in mid-2012.
Texas A&M University-Commerce is contributing roughly $1 million to the project, which will go toward street improvements on roads adjacent to campus.
