Commerce ISD assistant superintendent Charlie Alderman says a new state law that requires school districts to be in session for 75,600 minutes per year rather than 180 days per year will allow the CISD to have a calendar of just 172 days in 2016-17.  The fall semester will end before the Christmas holidays, and the school year will end before Memorial Day.  Charlie says 20 minutes will be added to school day at the Commerce Elementary School, 10 minutes at A.C. Williams Elementary, and six minutes at Commerce High School.  No time will be added to the school day at the Commerce Middle School.
