Harry Turner, deacon of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church and a member of the Commerce Community Action Program (C-CAP), says the annual Juneteenth celebration will be at the Ivory Moore Park on the east side of Commerce from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday (June 24). Juneteenth (officially June 19) celebrates the announcement on June 19, 1865 in Galveston that the slaves had been freed.
