In Commerce, police are investigating an apparent home invasion and robbery attempt that resulted in the shooting death of one of the suspects.

Late Tuesday night, police received a report of a home invasion in the 900 block of Bois D’Arc Street, immediately south of State Highway 224. While the crime was being reported, police also received a report of a man arriving at the Hunt Regional Commerce emergency room with a gunshot wound. Police arrived at the emergency room and shortly identified the injured man as a suspect in the robbery. The brother of the suspect was also at the emergency room and was detained by police.

While the police were at the hospital, they received information identifying the car allegedly used in the home invasion as a silver Camaro. They matched that description to a car found at an address in the 1600 block of Campbell Street, where they detained a third suspect. The man who was shot was taken by helicopter to a Plano hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries. Two of the remaining suspects have been charged with aggravated robbery and a third suspect remains at large, police said.

No identifying information about the man who died or the remaining suspects has been released as of this time.
