Trucks will spray portions of Commerce beginning around 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays this summer.

The City of Commerce will once again be spraying for mosquitoes, beginning May 6 and continuing through Sept. 26.

Truck-mounted foggers will be spraying quadrants of the city on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, beginning around 7 p.m., weather permitting. In the event of rain, spraying will resume on the next scheduled day, a city release said.

The pesticides in the spray are said to be of low toxicity to people and pets, although direct contact should be avoided, the city said. Pet food and water bowls should be brought inside, according to the city’s statement. People are asked to stay inside during spraying and the chemicals will not be sprayed if the driver sees people outside, the city said. The spray is extremely toxic to fish and fish ponds should be covered during spraying evenings, the city said.

The full text of the release, along with a map showing the quadrants, can be found here.
