Cooper Lake State Park Now Features White Sand Beaches

Cooper Lake State Park, Facebook

Steve Killian, superintendent of Cooper Lake State Park, says the swimming beaches at both the South Sulphur and the Doctors Creek units have recently received truckloads of white sand, giving them an appearance similar to beaches in Florida.  Also, the park has resume educational programs after the coronavirus lockdown.  In fact, a program on bats is set for 8 p.m. tonight (Friday, July 16) at South Sulphur, a photography hike is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Doctors Creek, and a program on Dutch oven cooking is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at South Sulphur.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
