Court hears more on appraisal consolidation

COOPER - During Monday’s meeting of the Delta County Commissioners Court, Hunt County Chief Appraiser Brent South recommended that the two organizations consolidate efforts.

South told the Court, “We want to work with all the taxing entities for a good fit.”

South was confident this consolidation would help alleviate some of the burden on the Delta County Appraisal staff without taking away their control.

“Our values will be reflective of Delta County,” noted South, stating that the office in Delta County will remain open and hearings will be held in Delta County, as well.

County Attorney Jay Garrett reported for November $11,000 assessed in fines, $1,500 in court costs and $1,470 collected in hot checks for merchants.

The Court will meet again on Tuesday, December 27.
