Date Set for Acker Execution

The State of Texas has set a date for the execution of a Sulphur Springs man who recently lost his bid to have the US Supreme Court review his case.

Forty-six-year-old Daniel Clate Acker was convicted in 2001 of kidnapping and killing the women he lived with at the time. Police accused Acker of killing 32-year-old Markie George by throwing her from his car. Acker has claimed the woman jumped from the car and died on the road. In April his appeal to the Supreme Court on the grounds that key evidence was not introduced at his trial was denied.

Acker will be executed on September 27.
