Delta County Deputies under investigation

COOPER - A criminal investigation by the Texas Rangersis underway involving three Delta County Sheriff’s deputies.

The incident, allegedly involving minors, occurred on Saturday, June 2 at the Doctors Creek Unit of Cooper Lake after the park was closed.

Sheriff Gerald Teague and Chief Deputy Jim Lewman were not at liberty to comment on the case saying they didn’t want to impede with the Texas Rangers ongoing investigation.

Doctors Creek Unit, located on FM 1529, closes each night at 10 p.m. Anyone found entering the Park after hours can be cited for a Class C Misdemeanor. According Park Police Officer Glenn Stone, anyone found not adhering to all the rules, listed here, are subject to penalties for violations of 59.132 - 59.134 of this title (relating to General Rules, Closing Hours and Overnight Use, and Rules of Conduct). Such violations are Class C Misdemeanors as provided in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code, Chapter 13.112.
