District hopes scaled down proposal will win approval

BONHAM - The Bonham ISD Board has again adopted an order calling for a bond election concerning campus improvements.

Unlike past elections, the district will ask voters this time around to approve renovations to one school, I.W. Evans Intermediate. During a special meeting Friday, board members agreed that more than $7.6 million in renovations are needed for I.W. Evans. On May 12, they’ll ask citizens to approve a $7 million bond, with the remaining $662,656 to come from the district’s fund balance.

Bonham ISD last November proposed a $27.1 million bond for improvements to both I.W. Evans and the high school, which was narrowly rejected by just over 52 percent of voters.
