Double shooting reported in Royse City

UPDATE, Jan. 31,  4:15 p.m. 

Officials have identified Kara Elizabeth Croop, 33, as the victim in the Jan. 31. Police said that her husband, Scott Croop, 39, shot her in the street outside of their home on the 400 block of Cookston Lane before shooting himself. Scott Croop was pronounced dead on the scene, while Kara Croop was severely wounded and transported to a Dallas hospital, officials said.

Royse City police are investigating a Friday morning shooting that left one man dead, and one woman seriously injured, according to a Rockwall Herald-Banner report.

Police received a call about shots fired in the 400 block of Cookston Street in Royse City. When police arrived, they found two bodies in the street, according to the report.

Royse City Police Chief Jeff Stapleton tells the Herald-Banner that names of the victims cannot be released at this time, but they are believed to be husband and wife.

The couple had a daughter at school during the time of the shooting, police said.
