Dry Year for Greenville

2011 has been one of the driest years ever for the City of Greenville. Depending on where measurements are taken, the city fell either 16 inches behind, or received less than half, of its 30-year average in rainfall during the past 12 months.  The best total received was 28.82 inches, and the worst was 20.35 inches total. If the higher is used, that total falls to eighth place all-time in Greenville history. If the lower is used, the total is the lowest since rainfall has been recorded starting in 1900.
