U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway (R-11th) will take over the federal investigation into whether Russia meddled with the 2016 presidential election, now that House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes is temporarily stepping aside.

Conaway is a graduate of East Texas State University, who lettered for Lions football in the late 1960s. He was a member of two Lone Star Conference championship teams before graduating in 1970 with his bachelor’s in accounting.

Conaway has already stated that he feels it was not only the Russians who interfered in the election. He compared Mexican entertainers used to energize Hilary Clinton voters to the email hacking that officials say was orchestrated by the Russian government.
