A Farewell to Bonham ISD's Sonny Cruse

North Texas E-News

BONHAM - Citizens are invited to a reception Monday afternoon honoring outgoing superintendent Sonny Cruse.

After five years with the district, he’s joining the Huntsville ISD as deputy superintendent. The board announced last week Dr. Marvin Beaty as the sole finalist for the position.

In a statement in late June announcing his resignation, Cruse said, “I am so very grateful to the board of trustees, the faculty and staff, parents, community members and the wonderful students of Bonham ISD for allowing me to serve as the superintendent of schools for the past five years. The time spent working alongside professionals such as yourself has greatly enriched my life and will serve me well as I move on to another opportunity in my professional life.”

Monday's ’s reception will begin at 5 p.m. from the Bailey Inglish Administration Center at 1005 Chestnut Street, with the regular meeting of the Bonham ISD Board to follow.

Dr. Beaty, formerly of the Troup ISD south of Tyler, is expected to officially take over at Bonham upon completion of the state-mandated 21-day waiting period, which started July 17.
