Greenville Officials Are Trying to Preempt a Sinkhole

Mar 28, 2018

Soggy weather is adding up to a potential infrastructure headache in Greenville.

The Herald Banner reported today that as much as 40 feet of sewer line in the city has collapsed from too much rain. The issue has prompted worries from Interim City Manage Summer Spurlock that a sinkhole might open up. Most likely, she says, that would be along Wesley Street, near Robin Road.

City officials have roped off the area to traffic. They also voted last night to get emergency repairs started before the street opens up. Work is expected to begin when the rain stops and take about two months.
