Hunt County Cold Case Turns Two Years Old

Hunt County Crime Stoppers

HUNT COUNTY - Sheriff Randy Meeks says there’s been no progress in the murder case of Heather Leann Pope.

Despite new evidence brought to a forensic anthropology lab last summer, no arrests have been made and no suspects identified.

Pope’s body was found on Aug. 2, 2010 outside of a vacant house in the Duck Cover area along the shores of Lake Tawakoni. She had been missing for about two weeks. Autopsy reports show Pope was murdered due to blunt force trauma to the head.

On the first anniversary of her death, Pope’s mother Carla told law enforcement, “The family is devastated and that without answers they have been unable to work through the grieving process. Heather was the type of person who never met a stranger and liked everyone she met. I just can’t understand why anyone would want to hurt her.”

Anyone with information in the case is encouraged to contact Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.
