Hunt County ranch to again house a white buffalo

Sacred World Peace Church and Alliance

GREENVILLE - As authorities continue their probe into the slayings of a sacred white buffalo and its mother, the Lakota Ranch is preparing to accept another white buffalo as a donation from Oregon.

Cynthia Hart-Button has a record 14 white bison. She is the president and founder of the Sacred World Peace Church and Alliance. She tells WFAA-TVshe plans to send a 3,000-pound white buffalo named Chief Hiawatha from her own sanctuary to Texas. Hart-Button hopes the buffalo will serve as protection for the ranch and also help produce another white calf.

News of the arrival came ahead of this weekend’s Native American Powwow at the ranch, which was scheduled to coincide with the one year anniversary of Lightning Medicine Cloud’s birth. Hundreds attended Saturday’s event and a memorial on Sunday.

At last report, $55,000 had been raised in reward money for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Lightning’s death.
