Hunt County schools recognized for college readiness

Commerce and Lone Oak High Schools have been presented the 2011 College Readiness Award by the Texas ACT Council.

The award is in recognition of the schools having a significant increase in its ACT Composite score over the past five years while, at the same time, increasing or maintaining the number of students taking the ACT assessment.

“These results show that our school is providing the kind of education that makes a positive difference for all students in preparing them for college and the workforce,” Commerce High School Principal Virdie Montgomery said.

He added that work will continue to increase opportunities for students to become prepared for college and the world of work.

Commerce and Lone Oak ISD were the only Hunt County schools to receive the distinction.
