Investigation underway in East Texas plant explosion

MINEOLA - Officials say nobody has been hurt in an explosion and fire at a Wood County petroleum company that destroyed much of the business.

Hazardous materials crews were at the scene Monday at Pearce Petroleum Products in Mineola. Investigators are trying to determine what sparked Sunday night's fire and led to some petroleum products spilling.

The Associated Press reports that fire crews extinguished the blaze after about an hour. Fire department spokesman Steve Finley says the business owners were on the property when the fire broke out and they called 911.

Pearce Petroleum sells ethanol-free petroleum products and fuel.
