Leonard Voters Toast Beer and Wine Sales

Voters in Leonard Tuesday passed a measure to allow the sale of beer and wine at stores in the city. About 55 percent of voters said yes to the proposition.

The measure was on the ballot in May of 2017 as part of a two-part proposition. Part A was the alcohol sales and part B was to authorize street repairs using the money raised from the sales tax on beer and wine sales. Voters in Leonard passed the street repair proposition but not the alcohol sales proposition. Proponents rounded up more than 200 signatures to get the measure back on the local ballot.
