Senior Ciara Holmes set an new career high with 19 kills versus Cameron

After dropping the first two sets to Cameron University, Texas A&M University-Commerce got boots from Li'i Etimani and Delanee Clark to get back in the set match and closed out the comeback in the fifth. The Lions were able to seal the win in this match, unlike their previous comeback attempt against Midwestern State when the Lions dropped the fifth set after winning sets three and four.

The Lions defense struggled early, giving the Aggies a chance to get into a rhythm. The Lion offense finally got it going in the third set, and that effort was sustained in the final two sets to get the victory.

"They have some tremendous hitters. Kellie Carver is one of the best hitters in the LSC. Their record is not indicative the talent on their team," Lions volleyball coach Craig Case said. "I was pleased with where Delanne is, when she came in she played within herself. She played within herself. These are the things I do well and I need them to do well. I can not say enough about Li'i. We were a different team when she was out on the court. She did everything tonight besides get blocks."

A&M-Commerce got a career night from Ciara Holmes with 19 kills and a .378 hitting percentage, which led the Lions. The 19 kills from Holmes is a new career high for the senior. The Lions had three other players with at least 10 kills. Breanne Snyder had 14, and Amy Davault and Kayla Bond each had 13. Davault and Snyder each had 18 digs to record double-doubles. With this performance, Davault now has 16 double-doubles on the season and Snyder has nine.

Clark had three blocks and a kill and Etimani had seven digs and a kill. Jordan Neal had 54 assists and nine digs. This marks the tenth time Neal has eclipsed the 50-assist plateau.

The first saw Cameron get an early lead by scoring the first two points and maintain the lead to force an A&M-Commerce timeout at 15-10. The Aggies scored four of the last five points to win set one, 25-16.

The second set was tightly contested with 13 ties and seven lead changes. The Lions tied the set at 18 and took a 20-18 lead off of an attack error by the Aggies. Cameron then scored six of the last eight points to win the set 25-22 and take a two sets to none lead.

Set three saw the two sides split the first 10 points. After the Lions tied the score at 14 they reeled off six of seven points to take a 19-15 lead off an attack error from the Aggies. The Lions won six of the last nine to close the set at 25-18.

In set four the Aggies came out with a 7-2 lead, trying to close out the Lions. The Lions eventually tied the set at 13 off a service ace from Davault. A&M-Commerce then scored another five in row to force a Cameron timeout. The Aggies won the first point after the timeout, but the Lions scored seven of 10 and won set four with a Snyder kill.

After the Lions' two straight set wins the crowd at the Field House rallied. The Lions responded with an 8-4 advantage when the teams switched sides. After two timeouts by Cameron the Lions held a 11-6 advantage. A 5-1 run closed out the match, and Holmes and Clark registering the final two kills.

The Lions return to the court when they travel to Laredo to face the Dust Devils of Texas A&M-International. This will be the second time that the two teams will face each other this season. The prior meeting was at the Heartland/LSC Crossover Tournament in Lubbock with the Lions winning 3-1 on September 13. A&M-Commerce then jumps back into Lone Star Conference play when they travel to Kingsville to face the Javelinas the following day.
