Commerce – An exciting weekend for A&M-Commerce basketball as the Lions come up with the Lone Star Conference Championship. Friday night showed tournament MVP Jermart Miller getting fouled on a 3 point shot with 1.7 seconds left to play and the Lions trailing Tarleton State 67 to 65. Miller stepped up to the line before the 3,500 person crown, and sunk 3 consecutive free throws to hand the Lions the victory in dramatic fashion.
The Lions handled West Texas A&M Saturday, as they took the lead early and never looked back. They shot 47% from the floor and 43% from 3-point range, as they took the commanding 77 to 62 victory over the Buffaloes.
A&M-Commerce will host the NCAA Division 2 South Central Regional this Saturday, Sunday, and next Tuesday. The Lions are the top seed, and will face Southwestern Oklahoma State at 8:30 this Saturday.
